Secret Garden Wedding at Lapstone Barn

Updated: Jul 8, 2023

When Jemma and Mikey gave me the brief of a Bridgerton inspired secret garden themed floral design for their wedding at Lapstone Barn I jumped at the chance.

Lapstone Barn isa beautifully converted barn in the Cotswolds. It provided a perfect natural backdrop to create something very special for the occasion.

For this April wedding Spring flowers in soft blues, pinks, purples and creams included ranunculus, delphinium, roses clematis and an abundance of stunning foliage and ferns.

So as to give the Lapstone Ceremony Barn a garden vibe we placed a large wooden arch at the top of the aisle to frame the ceremony. This was dressed with a beautiful floral design and finished with full arch draping. A huge floral meadow was placed in front of the ceremony table. These two elements together made for a stunning, natural and full focus at the front of the ceremony. Jemma and Mikey later used these elements as beautiful backdrops for some of their wedding images after the ceremony.

At the entrance to the ceremony barn are two rails which although not offensive we softened these with flowing foliage and flowers so as to continue the garden theme all the way through the ceremony room making for a romantic entrance for Jemma.

Jemma carried an overflowing bouquet full of soft pastel colours and bouncy ranunculus. Her bridesmaids carried smaller bouquets with the same flower and colour theme and these were later used on some of the reception table as table centres.

The couple even included their dog in their nuptials who wore a beautiful floral dog colour to compliment Jemma’s bouquet and the bridesmaids dresses.

For the reception table urns with overflowing floral arrangements were placed in the centre of the round reception tables and these were elevated with candles. The giant ceremony meadow was moved to the top table and this looked perfect in situ making a beautiful focal point of the top table.

This was a perfect spring day which was sympathetic to the venue and season.
